Dean O’Leary is a multi-award winning guitarist and singer/songwriter from Sydney Australia. Dean grew up listening to and was influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and The Eagles amongst many other greats.
Dean’s first professional gig was at the early age of 15, performing with his late father, Jack O’Leary. Jack was a very successful and well loved Australian singer, comedian and actor. Jack advised Dean, that quote, “You really sound great in the bedroom son, but it’s time to get you out there, playing on ‘The Green”. (The Stage)
So then it began with Dean’s early experiences of performing in front of large crowds in Auditoriums and theaters around Australia. One of the very first shows he played with his Dad was at the Tweed Heads Bowling club in the main Auditorium to a packed house. Dean’s nerves were flying high, and he felt like he was about to be sick. When mid show he relayed this to his father, Jack pulled back away from the mic and said, “Ok son, do what you gotta do, but then wipe your mouth, and get back on stage”. The show must go on.
From age 19 and onwards he moved on to play in various bands all over Australia and Internationally. He’s won three ACE awards with his own band and as a solo artist. Also winning numerous ACE and MO awards with The Zips, a local Sydney Show Band.
Dean has now lived in Los Angeles for the last ten years, and during that time he’s performed with Sergio Mendes, Maxine Nightingale, Connie Stevens, Joely Fisher, Hudson Thames, Fisher & Thames, The Twilight Lords, Band of Liars and many other artists locally.
Coming up on July 20th 2020 is the first song release for Dean as a solo artist since living in LA. This is a follow up to his first self titled EP from 2008, which he produced back in his home town of Sydney.
The new single, ‘Brave Souls’ was produced and mixed at his home studio in LA. This song was written during the recent Quarantine Stay at home orders.
This is the first Single of many more to follow in the coming months in 2020.
